Friday Prayers (Jumu’ah)
Jumu’ah is a special weekly gathering for reflection, unity and worship within our community.
Friday prayer takes place at 1:00pm each week at Grimsby Central Mosque.
We kindly encourage early arrival and ask everyone to observe proper etiquette — entering quietly, switching mobile phones off and maintaining respect throughout the sermon and prayer. Please park considerately and with care for our neighbours.
Blue donation boxes will be circulated during the prayer to support the mosque, and community announcements are shared after the sermon. A dedicated prayer space is available for sisters.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Friday Prayers Frequently Asked Questions
What time should I arrive for Friday prayer?
We encourage everyone to arrive as early as possible to help maintain a calm and organised environment. The main mosque doors open at 12:00pm, giving time to settle, pray sunnah and prepare for the khutbah. Early arrival reduces congestion and allows worshippers to benefit fully from the gathering. For authorised attendees, fob access is available 24/7. Arriving in good time supports the smooth running of Jumu’ah and helps preserve a respectful and welcoming atmosphere for all.
Where should I park when attending Jumu’ah?
Please park responsibly and with consideration for our neighbours and surrounding streets. Do not block driveways, pavements or access routes. We have requested council attendance during busy periods, and illegal or inconsiderate parking may result in penalties. We kindly ask everyone to represent the mosque with good character and respect when parking. Thoughtful parking helps maintain positive relationships within the wider community and reflects the values we uphold.
What etiquette should be observed during the sermon?
Jumu’ah is a time of reflection and focus. Khushu is achieved by minimising distractions and maintaining silence during the khutbah. Please switch off mobile phones before entering and avoid conversation once the sermon begins. Respect should also be shown when entering, leaving and in the surrounding area. Maintaining calmness and consideration for neighbours helps preserve the sanctity of this important weekly gathering.
Is there a dedicated space for women?Yes, we provide a fully dedicated and comfortable prayer space for sisters. Upon arrival, walk to the left of the main entrance and follow the path around to the ladies’ section. Security or stewards are available to assist if required. The women’s section ensures all members of our community can attend and participate in Jumu’ah in a suitable and respectful environment.
How can I contribute to the mosque during Friday prayers?
During the khutbah, delivered in Arabic and English, blue donation buckets are circulated to support the mosque’s ongoing work. Clearly labelled donation points are also located at the rear wall. For security reasons, no cash is stored on the premises. Card payment machines are available, and an online donation link is provided for convenience. Your support helps sustain and develop the mosque for the benefit of the community.
Is there a place to make a Wudhu?
Yes, dedicated wudhu facilities are available for both men and women. For brothers, turn right after entering the main hall and follow signs towards the toilets to find the wudhu area. Sisters have a separate facility within the women’s section. Please use the facilities considerately and leave them clean for others. Cleanliness is an important part of preparing for prayer and reflects our shared responsibility.
